⚽ Mainoo Exit Shock & Salah's Saudi Mega-Bid Incoming
Download MP3Hello and welcome to the Transfer News Podcast! I'm Archer, and happy New Year everyone! We're kicking off two thousand and twenty-six with an absolute avalanche of transfer rumours, so let's dive straight into the action.
Starting with Manchester City, and it seems Pep Guardiola has some concerns about his defensive options. Oscar Bobb is attracting serious interest from Borussia Dortmund, who are leading the race for the talented youngster. This could be one to watch as the January window heats up.
Now, a name that's popping up absolutely everywhere today is Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. We've got multiple stories here, so bear with me. First up, Liverpool are reportedly in the mix, and the player himself apparently prefers a move to Anfield if he's to leave the south coast. Manchester United are also plotting a move for him this January, and get this, there are apparently five clubs now in the chase for his signature. Honestly, if Bournemouth can spark a bidding war here, they're laughing all the way to the bank.
Sticking with Manchester United, Ruben Amorim's side are considering a return for James Garner, the midfielder who came through their academy. They're also eyeing a loan deal for Conor Gallagher, which would be an interesting short-term solution if Chelsea are open to it.
But here's the big Manchester United story that's causing waves: Kobbie Mainoo reportedly wants to leave Old Trafford. Now, United could block that move, and you'd think they would given his potential, but this is certainly a situation to monitor closely.
Joshua Zirkzee's proposed move to Roma has hit a deadlock, with negotiations stalling between the clubs. Not ideal for United if they were hoping to move him on.
Newcastle United might have a fight on their hands to keep Joelinton, with Saudi Pro League clubs reportedly targeting the Brazilian midfielder. Eddie Howe will want to hold onto him given his versatility and work rate.
Marc Guehi is the subject of multiple stories today. Barcelona have apparently cooled their interest in the Crystal Palace defender, but don't worry Palace fans, Bayern Munich are planning talks with him, and Manchester City are targeting him for the summer. Oliver Glasner might have his work cut out keeping hold of his star centre-back.
Speaking of Crystal Palace, they want Brennan Johnson from Tottenham. That would be quite the coup if they can pull it off.
Chelsea and Leeds United are both monitoring James McAtee's situation at Manchester City. The young midfielder needs regular football, and a move could benefit all parties.
Fulham are in the market for a striker, wanting Ricardo Pepi who's rated at forty million pounds. Marco Silva clearly sees him as the answer to their goalscoring needs.
Bournemouth, despite potentially losing Semenyo, are looking to strengthen by eyeing Brennan Johnson as well. Seems like Tottenham's winger is in high demand.
Marcos Senesi could be leaving Bournemouth too, with two La Liga clubs battling for the Argentine defender's signature. Andoni Iraola might need to get busy in this transfer window.
West Ham are active as ever. Nuno Espirito Santo's side are eyeing Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen for January, they've set their sights on Josh Sargent, and they're also watching in-form Adam Clayton. The Hammers are clearly looking to add quality and depth across multiple positions.
Finally, the big one that won't go away: Mohamed Salah remains the top priority for the Saudi Pro League, and Al Hilal are preparing a bid for the Liverpool superstar. Arne Slot will be desperate to keep him, but the Saudi money is serious.
And one more Premier League pair are eyeing Sporting's Ousmane Diomande, though we don't know which clubs just yet.
