Hello and welcome to the Transfer News Podcast! I'm Archer, and it's Wednesday, the twenty-eighth of January, two thousand and twenty-six. Plenty of transfer whispers swirling around the Premier League today, so let's dive straight in.

Starting with some breaking news from the City Ground: Nottingham Forest have reportedly made a thirty-five million pound bid for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. Sean Dyche clearly wants to bolster his attacking options, and Mateta's physical presence could be exactly what Forest need to climb the table. This comes after Aston Villa showed interest in the Frenchman just days ago, so it looks like a bidding war could be brewing.

Speaking of big moves, Manchester City are keeping tabs on Trent Alexander-Arnold. Pep Guardiola is apparently monitoring the Liverpool right-back's contract situation, which remains unresolved as we head deeper into the year. If Trent doesn't sign a new deal at Anfield soon, the champions could swoop in.

Meanwhile, Tottenham could pay just five million pounds for Liverpool's Andy Robertson. Thomas Frank seems keen on adding experienced depth at left-back, and that price tag looks like a bargain for a player of Robertson's caliber, even if he's entering the latter stages of his career.

Good news for Liverpool fans on the Alexander-Arnold front, though: there's no Real Madrid exit imminent for Trent. Despite all the speculation linking him to the Spanish giants, it seems he's staying put for now, though that contract situation still looms large.

Mohamed Salah remains a prime target for the Saudi Pro League. The Egyptian superstar continues to attract mega-money offers from the Middle East, and while Liverpool will desperately want to keep him, the financial pull of Saudi football is undeniable.

Aston Villa are reportedly targeting Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Unai Emery is looking to strengthen his midfield options, and the former Chelsea man could provide versatility and experience to Villa's squad as they push for European qualification.

Staying with Villa, as mentioned earlier, they've shown interest in Mateta from Crystal Palace. Emery clearly rates the striker highly, but Forest's thirty-five million pound bid might have put them in pole position.

Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate hasn't settled his contract situation yet. The French defender has been impressive when fit, but ongoing uncertainty over his future is something Arne Slot will want resolved sooner rather than later.

Chelsea news now: the Blues are reportedly open to selling Enzo Fernandez. Liam Rosenior's side paid over one hundred million pounds for the World Cup winner, but if the right offer comes in, Chelsea might be willing to listen. That's quite the turnaround.

Chelsea have also made a move for Djibril Jacquet. The young midfielder is being pursued as Rosenior looks to refresh his squad and add younger talent to the mix.

Intriguing managerial news: Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is on Manchester United's radar. With Michael Carrick still in interim charge at Old Trafford, United are clearly assessing their options, and Glasner's work at Palace has caught their attention.

Aston Villa are eyeing a return for Tammy Abraham. The striker, who came through Villa's ranks on loan years ago, could be heading back to the Midlands as Emery seeks more firepower up front.

Atletico Madrid want Wolves midfielder Matheus Gomes. The young Brazilian has impressed under Rob Edwards, and Spanish interest suggests he's destined for bigger things if this move materializes.

Manchester City are preparing an offer for Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace defender has been on several clubs' radars, and Pep Guardiola sees him as a potential long-term solution in defense.

City have also made a move for another player named Anderson, though details remain scarce. Guardiola is clearly planning ahead with multiple targets identified.

Everton are eyeing Arsenal's Ben White. David Moyes wants to strengthen his backline, and the versatile England international would be a stellar addition, though prising him away from the Gunners won't be easy.

Barcelona want Marcus Rashford to stay, which is interesting given ongoing speculation about his future. The Catalan giants seem content with the forward remaining at Manchester United for now.

Arsenal are monitoring Tino Livramento. Mikel Arteta is keeping close tabs on the Newcastle full-back as the Gunners look to add quality depth to their defensive options.

Arsenal have also joined the race to sign Marc Guehi, competing with Manchester City for the Palace defender's signature. It could be an expensive battle between two of England's richest clubs.

Bournemouth are keen on Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri. Andoni Iraola wants to bring the talented teenager to the south coast, likely on loan, to aid his development with regular first-team football.

And finally, Newcastle face a battle for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Eddie Howe is interested in the Norwegian forward, but competition from other clubs could make this deal complicated.
